ORGANIC EDUCATION brings academic subjects into everyday activities.
For example, kids enjoying a walk from the preschool to the park are participating in social interaction and physical fitness. However, the discussion of the group can quickly turn to a discussion about the wildlife the children see along the way. Or the weather. The children may also notice some of the important people in the community on their walk. They may notice a police car or fire truck or the postal carrier. There are numerous learning experiences in daily life.
We focus on keeping learning relevant through "learning moments" capturing the child's interest and curiosity at the moment the questions arise.
We find plenty of opportunities to "get outside" and get to know our community and ourselves along the way. For example, our garden program helps children discover the wonders of the life cycle. Our visits to the Farmer's Market help us to learn about where food comes from and the kind of healthy things we should eat. Our bus rides to the library keep us interested in books and all they have to offer us.
